ABOUT US We are delighted to announce the 6thIan Hobson Music Festival will take place January 1-7, 2020. The Piano Institute is a thriving environment for young pianists to learn, grow, and achieve their goals and each emerging artist will be provided with highly individualized, quality musical training and mentoring with internationally renowned piano faculty members who will provide daily lessons, masterclasses and recital performances. Masterclasses will be given by artistic director Ian Hobson (University of Illinois, Florida Sate University) and Boaz Sharon(Boston University) All events, performances, masterclasses, will take place in the historic Galleria Inn, which houses a superb Steinway D from the golden era of Steinway production (1940s). This magnificent building in Old San Juan, within sight of the spectacular 16th century fortification El Moro, is host to the intensive study of public masterclasses and performances by faculty and students, recorded in state-of-the-art conditions. All of these activities culminate in solo concerts that are a showcase for the participants and open to the public. High quality audio and video recordings are made of all concerts of high artistic level of participants.
Application procedure: Pianists wishing to participate should send a video recording (30 minutes), containing performances of at least two major works in contrasting styles. The deadline for receipt of the applications is October 31, 2019. Please also send a recommendation letter from your teacher or another prominent musician in support of your application. Applicants should normally be aged between 18 and 35. Exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Upon review of application materials, applicants will be invited to participate the festival. Applicants are highly encouraged to apply early, as space is limited. Correspondence regarding application status will be made via email.

Mail the application fee ($25) check to Steinway Society of Puerto Rico, Norzagaray 204, San Juan, 00901, Puerto Rico), please make the check payable to Steinway Society of Puerto Rico. 3. Participants will be notified upon acceptance and given instructions for completing their registration.
Tuition All accepted participants receive a full tuition scholarship, including room and board. Participants will be responsible to pay a $200 registration fee.
